MMA Fighter Ronda Rousey

MMA Fighter Ronda Rousey
In our daily lives, most of us follow some kind of beliefs to avoid bad luck. We can find thousands of beliefs that can influence people to avoid a specific habit and follow the other that perceived to be beneficial. In some countries, beliefs controls people to an extreme extent.

The same goes with prize fighting. In boxing for example, Manny Pacquiao doesn’t want to have his blood taken for testing a day before the fight. He considers it bad luck. But there is one fighter who is practicing an unusual sex diet regime before a scheduled bout – Ronda Rousey. Learn what science had to say about this one of kind belief. But first, let me give you a short bio of Ronda.

Who is Ronda Rousey

Ronda is an American mixed martial artist and a judo expert. She is the first American to win an Olympic medal in judo in Beijing . She is the current Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight Champion and is scheduled to fight in the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship).

Like Manny Pacquiao, Ronda is the undisputed number one female MMA fighter, pound for pound in the world. An excellent grappler, Ronda finished all her opponents by an armbar in just the first round. Thanks to her excellent coaching team led by Armenian Gokor Chiviyan of Glendale Fighting Club.

To be able to stay on top of the game, MMA fighters usually give their 100% effort in training. However, Ronda incorporated a different recipe on her training regime that is totally out of ordinary – sex. Does having a sex diet could really impact your physical performance? Lets learn more on her ideology about having sex prior fight night.

Rosey’s Views on Her Sexual Training Regime

On her recent appearance on Jim Rome’s show last Wednesday, she confidently revealed that one of the reasons of her MMA success was through having lots of sexual activities before fights. Though truly unusual, Ronda got used to this kind of routine which proved so far to be an effective fitness program.

Many fitness coaches and trainers don’t recommend sex for their male students as they believe that it can weaken the mind, spirit and body. In fact, this became a mythological rule within the sporting world where the athletes themselves abstain from sex leading up to the event. But Ronda said that the effects of sex in women is the complete opposite.

Below is the video of Ronda’s interview courtesy of Jim Rome’s sports program on Showtime.

Based on the video, Ronda said that sex raises her testosterone level which she perceives to be helpful for her training. “So I try to have as much sex as possible before I fight actually. Not with like everybody, I don’t put out like a Craiglist ads or anything, but if I got a steady I’m going to be like, ‘Yo, fight time’s coming up,” a delighted Ronda said.

Sex – Can it Really Improve your Performance

So what does science say about the effects of sex in athletes? The endless debate whether having sex can increase performance or not, is still one of the hottest sex topic for years. Muhammad Ali for example abstain from sex for about six weeks before a fight. On the other hand, soccer player Elias Figueroa and his teammates, were advised by their trainer to have sex hours before game time.

Confusing isn’t? Scientifically, there is no evidence that sex can improve or decrease your physical performance leading up to a contest or event. A 2006 study published by National Geographic, provides a detailed explanation why sex doesn’t post any threat to any athlete’s performance.

In fact, sex before physical activities such as exercise, sports or workouts can increase the levels of testosterone, which Ronda highly suggests. Abstinence before an important competition could lead to an increased aggression, so it is much ideal for power sports where aggression is highly required.

Additionally, lovemaking helps reduce the effects of pain and other known physical difficulties specially in women. Sexual stimulation creates a powerful pain-blocking effect, which helps ease endure body aches and muscle pain.

Some effects of sex may vary from one athlete to another. One reason why fitness and sport trainers suggests sex restriction though is to simply get enough sleep before the big game. High level of alertness and anxiety also plays an important role to produce the best performance, which is not possible if you are indulging in sex.

What are its Relevance for Weight Loss

Ronda Rousey’s feat so far is exceptional. She’s practically healthy and fit, thanks to her unique training regimen and of course her love to mixed martial arts. So this article tells you two things. First, sex provides tons of benefits for our body. It can make us healthy while enjoying the pleasures of it. Plus, sex helps burn a lot of calories that leads to significant weight loss.

Second is to play any sport. Ronda belongs in a brutal sport but you can duplicate her beautiful physique by trying other power sports such as football or basketball. You can even try Ultimate Frisbee for a change of tone. Playing any sport can help you lose weight.

Last is to combine both activities. Ronda is enjoying her own recipe of fitness – sex and MMA. So I suggest that you also have as many sex as possible while having fun playing your favorite sport. This will result to a healthy and sexy physique.
